Posttraumatic Stress Disorder

I am trained in Rapid Resolution Therapy and have been practicing this mode of trauma changing and clearing since 2009. This approach is effective in changing and clearing traumatic and problematic impressions caused by various life events. Rapid Resolution Therapy is unique due to its brevity: changing and clearing can result in a single six-hour session! It is more effective to spend quality time addressing the trauma than to spend multiple weeks addressing it. It's like this: taking a cake out of the oven every 2 minutes will never bake the cake. It needs to be in the oven the full time, then you'll have a baked cake. The power of this approach is rooted in updating the mind and orienting to the present while dismantling and disarming the emotional and cognitive fusion caused by the impressions deemed as traumatic and problematic.

Anxiety and Fear

By utilizing experiential techniques, you will learn and understand how to effectively demagnetize from the pull, the urge to take what you'd deem as ineffective action and move towards effective outcomes through valued action.

Anxiety is 100% normal and natural and has evolved to keep us surviving, but not necessarily thriving. Through therapy with James, you will learn how to live life by taking committed action DESPITE experiencing anxiety.

Anger and Self-Control

People do not have "anger issues." People experience anger and, if they get magnetized by the anger, they may take aggressive or violent action. That would be highly problematic. In therapy with James, you'll come to understand and experience anger in a more effective and beneficial way. You'll learn how to separate what you experience from who you are/how you are.

Internal Distressing & Problematic Narratives

We all have mental narratives that can wreak havoc on us if we get caught up in them. These narratives may very well be echoes from our past, that seemingly do little to benefit us. You'll learn how to take new perspectives in order to live a more enriching and fulfilling life, free from the chaos that these narratives once created.

Couples Counseling

James utilizes approaches from the Gottman Method for couples counseling, as well as specific strategies for couples from Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT).

Couples will learn how to more effectively understand each other; creating a system to resolve conflict and solve problems; and learning the difference between agreeing and understanding.

Children & Adolescents

James uses a variety of interventions to enhance the effectiveness of parenting skills. The approaches used are grounded in brain-based research, genetics, child development research, and evolutionary psychology. One approach that is instrumental in resolving issues within families is Collaborative and Proactive Solutions. This approach addresses reoccurring unsolved problems by solving them and, indirectly, strengthens and increases skills that were once lagging, which contributed to the ongoing, reoccurring unsolved problems.

Additionally, James utilizes a modified version of ACT with the children and adolescents he works with. Through this approach, these young individuals are able to explore how what they do impacts how they are seen, which can create a feedback loop of problematic mental narratives. Learning values and what's important to them will lead them to connect with effective actions in any specific context.
